The Middlesex Community School website has been updated with new Fall and Holiday classes and workshops, as well as info on our family favorite excursion to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular!  I’m excited about our outstanding line up of classes, including Zumba® Fitness/Toning. Join Judy Aldana for this “fitness party”, held at Middlesex High School. Zumba Gold will be held at Parker Elementary School, and is tailored for active adults who are looking for a modified Zumba® class that recreates the original Zumba moves at a lower-intensity.   Bring your friends and enjoy a class that fuses fitness, entertainment and culture into an exhilarating dance-fitness sensation!

Luciana Pagnetti, will instruct Beginning/Intermediate Yoga.  “Lucy” is a certified yoga instructor by IBREA, practicing the Barbara Brennan method of healing. She is also a Hatha yoga teacher from Devalila Yoga Students will learn deep breathing techniques for quieting the mind and yoga therapy exercises designed to open the body. Students will also practice various styles of guided meditation. Yoga improves flexibility, circulation and memory, and is a safe and effective way to lose weight and tone up.

Introduction to American Sign Language (ASL) will again be offered with instructor, Karen Perko. Are you interested in learning about the Deaf community, the integration of American Sign Language (ASL) in everyday life and learning how to communicate with friends and loved ones? Please join instructor Karen Perko for this 8 week course that will cover basic and intermediate American Sign Language. For those who have completed Introduction to American Sign Language (ASL), Karen Perko is presenting Advanced Study of American Sign Language (ASL) an In-Depth Analysis of Deaf Culture, to increase your ASL fluency.

New this Fall is Intro to Woods: Basic Hand Tools class. Former MHS Woodshop teacher, Steve Baldwin, will show you the key fundamentals of using important woodworking hand tools while building a simple project. You’ll watch, practice and learn while Steve demonstrates how to use key woodworking tools in this hands-on class. Students will cut, file, sand, assemble and finish individual projects to take home.  Skills and techniques will be demonstrated by instructor and then followed by students with instructor guidance.  Emphasis is on getting participants to feel comfortable with hand tools and encourage creativity while developing a progressive interest in woodworking.

Here’s a sweet idea: learn how to hand-make sweets and decorate chocolate treats! Enjoy time with your child/grandchild, making whimsical Halloween chocolate delights in our Mommy and Me Hallowe’en Chocolate Making Workshop. Fulfill your children’s wildest Willy Wonka fantasies and create fancy Hallowe’en-themed pretzel pops and luscious chocolate lollipops and Oreos, as well as many other amazing candy creations! Reserve your spot today! We sell out quickly!

What would the Holidays be without the enticing aroma and taste of mouth-watering, homemade cookies?  Our Mommy and Me Cookie Decorating Workshop returns for its fourteenth popular year! Bring plenty of cookie tins and your cameras to capture the fun with your favorite elf at this fun-filled event! Ages 4 and up are welcome. Register early! This class sells out every year!

Would you like to decorate your home and impress your guests with something different this holiday season? Join the off premise Holiday class at America’s Florist and create a lush and elegant Yuletide Swag. Designers Heather Bohme and Erica Paterson will teach you how to create a lavish display that is at home on a door, wall or mantel. Attendees will create their own festive accent piece featuring seasonal pine branches, embellished with pinecones, colorful berry sprays, faux fruit, and stunning seasonal ornamentation, finished with a gorgeous hand-tied wired velvet bow. This popular class is informative, fun and always a sell-out! Perfect for a girls night out!

Does the thought of making holiday cookies (and the clean-up!) overwhelm you?  Turn it into a fun and productive “girl’s day out” with friends and family, and have a blast in the kitchen with Melissa and me!  Join us for our annual Holiday Cookie Workshop and bake huge assortment of cookies for gifting or serving at holiday parties. A scrumptious lunch and beverage are also included. Have a favorite cookie you want considered to make for this class? Please let me know!

Kick off the Holiday season on a festive note with an excursion to the Big Apple to see the world famous Radio City Rockettes starring in the awe-inspiring Christmas Spectacular. Join us on Sunday, November 12th for this iconic Holiday classic!  We are now taking reservations, but tickets are limited. We also have a limited number of seats remaining for the October 29th excursion to Broadway’s WICKED. Please call ahead to ensure availability.

Please feel free to contact me if you want to know more about the classes/trips or if you want to give or suggest a class.

So….  This Fall and Holiday season, join our group of students seeking professional, recreational, physical and personal development in a myriad of areas.  Middlesex Community School will help you develop the skills that will enable you to achieve your goals!  I hope you are able to attend our exciting and exclusive Holiday trip and some of our outstanding courses!   I look forward to seeing you!
